One of the main risk factors for GERD include Hiatal hernia (a condition in which part of the stomach moves above the diaphragm, which is the muscle that separates the chest and abdominal cavities). Common symptoms of Acid Reflux or GERD: *The feeling that food may be left trapped behind the breastbone *Difficult breathing or shortness of breath *Heartburn or a burning pain in the chest (under the breastbone) *Nausea after eating *Difficulty swallowing In our office we get excellent results with GERD by doing a hiatal hernia adjustment. This is were we gently, safely and effectively move the stomach back down into its normal position. We can do this without surgery and side-effects. In most cases there is nothing wrong with the stoamach, its just out of position. This is a mechanical problem that requires a mechanical solution.
